First pocket gopher in 2024

This morning I trapped my first pocket gopher this year.  I saw the fresh dirt mound last night so trapping it was a quick job.   I never had a pocket gopher in the backyard before.  It was odd to find one there.   Last month before the grass started growing I saw a dirt mound in the ditch next to the hayfield as the south end.  But I had other stuff going on so I didn't get to setting a trap out there.   Now that the grass is tall in the hayfield and pasture I will have to wait until I cut the hayfield and the cattle eat some of the pastures down before I go out and look for fresh dirt mounds.  I'm sure I will find some pocket gophers out there.
