Ball of orange

Today Kelly brought his daughter, Peyton, along with him hunting. Or I should say "watching for deer" as that is what he is doing right now until the rut starts in earnest.

Peyton is about 3 years old. She is so small she was a little ball of orange in her hunter's outfit. It looked like she was wearing one of her dad's orange vests as it went from her chin down to almost her feet. Her face and arms also stuck out of the big vest. She wore a pink knit hat, pink mittens and pink shoes. The rest was orange.

She was the cutest little thing. She was small and quiet as this was her first trip to my place and she didn't know what to make of me. Earlier I had finished mowing my yard. To use up the gas in the lawn mower's tank I mowed a path from the corral towards the middle pasture gate until the gas ran out. The mower made it less than half way. Once the mowed path ended she made her way - carefully stepping - around the tall areas of grass the cattle left.

Kelly has a teenage stepson, but his interests are more into video games, skateboarding, and his girlfriend. No interest in hunting which is disappointing to Kelly. He has hopes Peyton will grow up to share his passion for the outdoors and hunting.
