Whitefish visit

After we left the auction we drove to Whitefish as it was close by. We parked and walked up and down Main Street to do some shopping.

At the end we stopped at the Great Northern Brewery to get a sample beer. Only Diane and I tried a beer sample. Curt no longer drinks, and Larry and Cathy also didn't try a free sample. It has been years since I tasted a beer and I found I still do not like the taste of beer. Curt has a friend who collects beer bottles and Curt bought a few beers for the collection.

Then we drove to the Big Mountain ski resort. Curt with his fear of heights did fine on the drive up the mountain. I think the trees lining the road helped. This is the off season - too late to ski, and since some snow is left - too early to hike or take a chairlift or gondola to the top of Big Mountain.

After quick look around we drove down the mountain and then around part of Whitefish Lake. We could see a number of really fancy homes along the lake, and some views of the lake, but there was no clear wide view of the lake until we returned to Whitefish and drove to the City Beach.

At the head of the lake almost all the fences had been taken down. Only a couple of lonely livestock gates were left standing in the field. Curt asked Cathy and Diane to go out there to get the gates for me but they would have none of it.

That is Big Mountain as seen from the lake.
