I'm leaving for the holidays tomorrow so I decided to trudge through the (melting) snow and retrieve my pocket gopher traps for the year. While the traps are mainly plastic, there is no sense in letting the metal parts rust.
I hadn't checked on the traps for weeks now - ever since it first snowed and buried them. I have milk jugs on metals poles to enable me to find the traps. That works well in the summer, but white on white is hard to see.
I did find the traps and found I had caught two pocket gophers. Several more traps were buried under dirt so I know I have more pocket gophers to catch next year. Oh joy!
The total for the year is 322 pocket gophers trapped. I don't know about you, but that is a lot of gophers.
