Today there was a forest fire in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Here is a photo of the smoke plume this afternoon. The mountain range seen is the Swan Range with the Jewel Basin in front of the cloud. The very rightmost mountain barely seen through the trees is Mt. Aeneas, where I had hiked in snow June 1.
By evening the smoke plume was mostly gone.
Here is a local news article about the fire. I guess the forest service plans to manage the fire instead of extinguishing it.
