Fall tree colors

For most of the years of growing my English Walnut trees their leaves were very susceptible to frost.  Their leaves would immediately turn brown and black and fall off within a day or two.  They never turned color.   Maybe it is this year, or maybe they are older trees now, but this Fall their leaves are turning color and have not fallen off even though we have had low temperatures of 30 degrees several times now.   Maybe it is because of this year - other trees and bushes have great rich color this year.

A few days later and the leaves are starting to fall.

One more day - and a night of freezing temperatures - and the leaves are falling fast.

This is the tree the one heifer ate all but three leaves back the end of May.

Apricot that has not turned color, and buffaloberry trees.
