Cattle in the yard

While there is not a lot of grass, the past few days I have let the injured leg cow and the two calves eat grass in the yard to give them something different than just hay.  And the yard is cleaner and drier than the corral for the injured leg cow's wound.

Of course this means cattle proofing the yard to protect the trees and bushes, etc.  I should know better but this is more work than I remember.  At first I let the cattle have access to the back yard up to the house.  Today I moved the temporary corral panels and let the cattle go around the house and into part of the front yard.  In a day or two I will let the cattle have access to the whole yard.  (Just a little more cattle proofing needed.)
